Amy Fairchild is an Oregon-based composer, pianist, vocalist, and music educator. As an ASCAP recording artist, her most recent releases are two albums of her piano compositions: “Serendipities” (2021) and “Beneath the Surface” (2022).  Her international debut as a composer/performer came in May of 2022, at the International Composers Festival in Bexhill-on-Sea, United Kingdom.  There, her work, “Cloud Shadows” was selected and premiered at the “Small Is Beautiful" Concert. This self-published composition, along with her catalog of popular works for piano, are available for sale on her website.

With accolades from piano instructors across the US, Canada, and Europe, Amy’s compositions are embedded with key developmental components for solid mastery of the piano. For the beginner to the advanced pianist, her artful works provide students with exciting and evocative contemporary repertoire that incorporates technique, musicality, and musicianship, along with performance favorites.

Amy began her musical studies early in childhood. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Theory and Composition from Linfield University in 2004 and she studied piano with Dr. Jill Timmons.  From there, Amy spent 15 years on the faculty at CLASS Academy, a private, Pre-K through 8th Grade school in Portland, Oregon.  During her tenure, Amy served as Music Director, Collaborative Pianist, and Director of the Office of Human Resources.  She developed an innovative and comprehensive music curriculum, oversaw annual music and theatre productions, and wrote two musicals for children, all the while continuing her work as an applied piano instructor, composer/arranger, and performing artist. It was during these years that she honed her skills as a composer well-versed in what teachers and students are seeking in today’s marketplace.

Amy’s piano compositions have also been featured in the Cascadia Composers “In Good Hands” concerts in 2022 and 2023.  Amy also serves on the board of the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance, and is on the faculty of the Wallowa Fiddle Tunes Camp, as the director of the children’s musical theatre program.  Most recently, she has been invited to serve on the selection committee for the 2023 and 2024 Oregon Music Teachers Association “Composer of the Year” award.

Amy is a member of ASCAP, the Music Teachers National Association, Oregon Music Teachers Association, and the Cascadia Composers Chapter of the National Association of Composers USA (NACUSA). When she is not composing or teaching, you will find Amy hiking with her family in the beautiful Wallowa Mountains just outside of Joseph, Oregon.
